A Bluetooth Electrostatic Speaker for Sophisticated Listening

Electrostatic

There are a number Bluetooth wireless speakers on the market.  Some are colorful, some are super small, some are even built into ice chests!  But if you’re an autophile who prefers a sophisticated sound, most of these portable Bluetooth speakers won’t make the cut.

Why?  Because many of the Bluetooth portable speakers on the market are designed to be a little speaker with big sound a and lots of bass.  They were made for the masses.

Most home and commercial premium wired stereo speakers use electrostatic technology to deliver music more precisely.  This technology emits sound bi-directionally like a musical instrument being played.  Electrostatic technology gives a more balanced sound that is uniquely crisp and clear.

In the past, you couldn’t have the best of both worlds, the portability of a Bluetooth speaker and the clarity of an electrostatic speaker, but the benQ treVolo S changed this.  This mini electrostatic speaker was designed for those who prefer an extraordinary sound to extraordinary loudness.

The treVolo S sound is exceedingly crisp even in very small volume.  For those who prefer a quieter music experience, such as when reading or preparing for sleep, the benQ treVoloS delivers a natural sense of ambiance.  It emits sound forwards and backward through its unique flip panel speaker wings.

Sounds good, right?  But just how does treVolo S electrostatic sound accomplish this?

Bidirectional Sound

Electrostatic

The treVoloS uses a thin-film diaphragm in its speaker wings to offer a bidirectional sound projection for crisp and clear sounds.

Minimum Distortion

The treVoloS is the smallest speaker in the world to use the high-end Electrostatic Speaker Technology.  It offers a distortion rate that is only 1/10 of the rate of conventional speakers, offering a natural and spacious sound.  In other words, conventional speakers have a  distortion rate of 10% while electrostatic speakers have a distortion rate of less than 1%.

The treVoloS is equipped with a non-distorted 3D audio technology and rich bass, stemming from its 12W dual woofers, dual amplifiers, and dual vibrating diaphragms You will hear rich bass sounds and beautiful sweet highs.

A Mom’s Perspective

The treVolo S is a sophisticated speaker, built for those with distinguished tastes.  If you’re looking for a speaker that is loud, can cover the pool area, and pumps out the bass, this is not the speaker for you.

The beauty of electrostatic speakers, dual woofers, amplifiers, and vibrating diaphragms is that together, they closely replicate live sound.  The focus is on capturing the highs and lows of voice or instrument, not to bluntly project it.

benqQ gave us access to a good number of different types of music to test with the speaker – from instrumental to vocal -from Flamenco to Hotel California. I spent a good amount of time listening to the music as well as tunes of my own.

I also compared how the music sounded on the treVolo S versus another Bluethooth speaker, by a well-known speaker company. Heres’ what I noticed about the treVolo S…

  1. the difference in its high and lows of the notes
  2. a better clarity and crispness of each instrument -they were better defined in songs
  3. I understood better what is meant by 3D sound – music wasn’t flat, I could hear instruments in the background at a different sound level than the instrument in the foreground.  On the other brand speaker, I didn’t notice a distinguished difference between the foreground and background instruments
  4. The other brand speaker gave out more bass and shook and moved a bit.  The treVolo S was stable, the bass did not overpower
  5. The treVolo S can play a loud sound, but not as loud the other brand speaker, nonetheless, I sensed no sound distortion, but did with the other brand speaker
  6.  With my eyes closed, I could actually envision myself as if being in a room with live music listening to the treVolo S

The treVolo S does a nice job of filling a quiet room with music.  It’s meant for enjoying the music.  Honestly, the treVolo S reminds me of my single days when I would come home late from work, turn on my expensive stereo system, pour a glass of wine, turn the lights down low, and relax listening to Natalie Cole or jazz.  That’s a distant memory after having two kids who are now teenagers!

Finding a quiet time is less easy these days, but it’s super easy to take the treVolo S with me to any room with its 18-hour battery and quick connection to my phone.  I can listen to my music while cooking, have it in the background while working, or while playing games with the kids.  And guess what?  I’m streaming my old favorite album, Unforgettable with Love, with Natalie Cole again and loving it!
