Clean more than Your Floors With This Steam Cleaner

Last month we wrote about the Sienna Trio Shine 3-in-1 Jewelry Cleaner and Sanitizer.  We were impressed at how well it shines gemstones.  It is a high-quality product.  Now we are testing a sister product called the Sienna Luna Plus, a steam cleaner mop.  But it is so much more than a mop

Using only water, the Sienna Luna Plus helps to kill germs, dirt, and grime in seconds.  Using  212-degree hot vapor molecules it penetrates porous surfaces, forcing dirt out of crevices.  It includes both a floor lamp for viewing debris on floors as well as a black light to identify trouble spots more easily.

The hot steam helps to kill dust mites and certain bacterias such as salmonella and E-coli.  Just leave the mop in a stationary position for at least 8 – 15 seconds to sanitize floors, countertops, etc.

The Luna Plus comes with 3 levels of adjustable steam control, including a micro pulse vibration features to work on tougher dirt and grime.

What’s really unique about this steam cleaner is that the handle and base can be taken off and a shoulder strap fastened on to make the steam unit portable.  It’s perfect for steaming cleaning countertops, windows, furniture, bathrooms, fixtures, kids toys, and even the BBQ grill.  It comes with a 12-piece accessory kit to make cleaning these items a breeze.

Ways to Use the Luna Plus Steam Cleaner

The Luna Plus steam cleaner works great on tile and wood.  The lamp really makes it easier to see under furniture and cabinets.

There is no repository for collecting dirty water other than the mop head, so floors tend to be wet a little longer.  This didn’t seem very noticeable on the tile but on the wood, I saw some very small pockets of water on our distressed wood that took probably 5-6 minutes to dry.

It cleans the tile well but because the grout is lower, my grout doesn’t look any cleaner than before.  The best way to clean the grout thoroughly is to use the attachments and focus just on the grout.

Portability & Mobility

The portability of the unit makes it easy to work on a number of different projects.  It took seconds to remove the steam cleaner base and the handle and put on the shoulder strap so I was good to go.  Yes, you still need to plug in the cord, but with 25 feet of cord, you have quite a bit of mobility.

Tile Grout

I have a number of bad grout stains on my tile floor.  I couldn’t wait to see if they would get better using the Luna Plus steam cleaner.

The first bad stain was where my iced-tea maker spilled out while it was brewing.  It took me an hour before I discovered the tea on the floor.  In fact, this has happened more than a couple of times. I tried to clean up but the stains remained.

However, after using the steam cleaning wand with a nylon brush, the stained grout started to go away.

Here’s what it looked like after I cleaned up a portion of the tea-stained grout.  It’s a noticeable difference.

The other bad area of stain was a red dye (fake blood from Halloween) that spilled and soaked into our grout in the kitchen.  My son had worked hard on it to clean it up with vinegar and baking soda, but the stain remained.

Using the steam cleaner and the nylon brush, I noticed the red stain flushing out.  I worked on it for over 10 minutes and with all the steam, it looked like I had made great progress.  But once I wiped up the excess and it dried, it didn’t work as well as I hoped.   I know that red is one of the worst stains to get out.

Draperies and Furniture

I was able to steam clean our draperies (yep, don’t even need to take them down), our couch and its pillows, and my Mom’s green chairs, that are probably a good 30 years old.  One of the armrest covers had a deep crease but the Luna Plus steamed it and the wrinkles immediately disappeared.

Have stains on your dining room chairs?  Just steam the spot, blot, steam, and blot and most, if not all of it will come out.

Windows

I did try using the squeegee on the windows.  It cleans up smudges and smears, but too much water comes out when steaming and it tends to drip down, so I don’t plan on using it again for windows.

Although, I’d bet it works well for car windows after you have cleaned and dried your car.

Toys

Whether plastic, wood, cloth or stuffed, the Luna Plus is great for freshening up your kids’ toys.  Resting the wand on your child’s stuffed animal for 8-10 seconds around its body will sanitize the stuffed animal with 212-degree steam.  No need to throw it in the washer and dryer.

Clothes

The Luna Plus works great for steam cleaning wrinkles out of your clothes and linens.  You don’t even need to take your linens off the bed to steam them!

Cars

The Luna Plus steam cleaner is great for steam cleaning your cloth seats, carpets, even the steering wheel, and other well-used areas.   Don’t forget to fasten on the brass brush to clean the tires.

Grills

Yes, using the brass brushes, you can use the brush with steam to have your grill looking in good shape in no time.  Get rid of the grease and grime.

A Mom’s Perspective

I loved the two-in-one functionality of the Luna Plus – that it can be used as a floor mop then easily reconfigured to be used as a mobile steaming unit for furniture, curtains, ridding of clothes wrinkles, cleaning the interior of cars, and more.  It’s a very handy device.

The Luna Plus steam cleaner puts steam cleaning into your own hands, literally with the ability to sling it on your shoulder and use its wand to either clean grout or freshen up furniture.  Our couch is made of fabric and leather.  I’ve had no way to clean the cushions before, short of calling a company into steam clean it.

Now I can steam clean the couch and its cushions any time I want and even spot clean it when someone spills on it.  It has opened up so many possibilities to clean things I wasn’t able to do before.

In addition, we have a couple of floor rugs that are very thick.  We’ve never cleaned them.  With the Luna Plus, I use the floor glider that comes with it, turn on the steam, and slowly glide it across the carpet.  In the areas where there are stains, I hover over that area for about 10 seconds, then blot it with a towel and repeat as necessary.

I love that I can freshen and even spot clean these thick carpets without getting the entire carpet wet, thus losing their fluffy look.

And putting the Luna Plus back together again to use as a steam mop is a snap…well, technically two snaps and you’re good to go.  You’ll never go back to an old-fashioned mop and bucket again.
