An Eco Backpack with Style and Sustainability

Want to save the environment while schlepping your stuff around? This eco backpack from Lenovo is made from 34 water bottles.

In celebration of 50 years of Earth Day, Lenovo introduced their “green” or moss green Lenovo Eco Pro 15.6″ Backpack.

It’s a beautiful looking backpack made of the equivalent of 34 water bottles and other recycled materials.

In fact, 83% of its weight came from recycled materials.

To make this backpack, Lenovo took the plastic water bottles and recycled them into pellets, which were melted and spun into yarn.

This yarn was woven to form the pack’s fabric, lining, and trim.

Think about it, one backpack is made from 34 bottles, that’s a lot.  Let’s say Lenovo produced 100,000 of these backpacks, worldwide.

This means that Lenovo saved 340,000 water bottles that might have ended up in landfills and/or waterways.

Ecowatch reported on a North American study that found in 2016, 22 million pounds of plastic goes into the waters of the Great Lakes each year.

Americans alone went through 50 billion plastic water bottles last year.

Lenovo has found a great way to recycle these bottles into a striking metro minimalist style backpack with many great features.

A Versatile Eco Backpack

The Lenovo Eco Pro 15.6″ Backpack is sturdy and resourceful.  I love backpacks with a lot of pockets and this one comes through.

The problem, however, with a lot of pockets is that you forget where things are.

What I like about this eco backpack is that it opens wide enough to easily see pockets in each compartment.

It’s not a dark hole to find things.

You can easily see where your laptop and tablet are stored.  Both pockets are lined with soft unabrasive material.

There is also space here for folders, writing pads, and more.

Again, you can see here how the zipper unzips to nearly the bottom of the backpack so you can see what it contains inside.

Interestingly enough, Lenovo placed the pen holder and office supply organization pouches in the first zipped compartment of the backpack instead of accessible from the front.

At first, I wasn’t sure about this, but the front two pouch pockets are handy for storing tech easily – like headphones, phones, battery chargers, a wallet, keys, etc.

I hate it when I’m at the airport and I had to shed all my tech gear – my phone, watch, Fitbit, ear pods, headphones, etc. and quickly put them away in my backpack.

Having front pockets like this make it easy to shed and retrieve my tech after security.

Little features are scattered throughout this eco backpack, like this sunglasses strap.  Smart and handy.

You could also thread your connected wired ear pods hear or any other cords to keep them from dragging.

Another favorite feature is the hidden pocket on the back of the Lenovo Eco Pro 15.6″ Backpack.  It can conceal your passport, money, school ID, diary, etc.

A Mom’s Perspective

I love backpacks.  Each of my favorite backpacks has its own purpose.

One I use for traveling. It’s huge and I fill it to capacity every time.  But it’s extremely heavy and always falls off my rolling luggage.

Another backpack I use for my board meetings.  It’s got a great blue color, but it’s small and hard to find things in it because it doesn’t open up very wide.

One I take to conferences with me to fill with paperwork and my PC.  Especially helpful at CES each year.

One I use as a purse, it doesn’t look like your typical backpack and it’s just small enough to not be cumbersome but the straps come in handy when shopping for groceries.

I like them all but I have to say the Lenovo Eco Pro 15.6″ Backpack is the most stylish and really the most versatile of all I own.

It’s great for travel since it attaches to rolling luggage.  Is also limits what I can carry so it won’t get so heavy yet it has lots of space for all of my tech.

It opens pretty wide, making it a lot easier to find things.  I like its green color and the fact it looks pretty professional as well.

If you’re looking for a useful versatile backpack that is good for our environment as well, the Lenovo Eco Pro 15.6″ Backpack is a good choice.
