Features:

Google has been working on some neat features to make life easier for their users.

In addition, Google added some unique features to their Pixel phones you won’t find on other popular phones.

During the live Google presentation, they showed this picture taken far away from the Golden Gate Bridge.  But with the telephoto zoom, the close-up of the Bridge was amazing (sorry, the close-up is not shown here).

Square camera – Like the iPhone 11, the Google Pixel 4 features a square camera.  It comes with a 12-mp lens and a 16-mp telephoto lens, allowing you to take high-quality shots from farther away as you zoom in.

Frequent Faces – Helps you make sure that your family members are in focus, smiling, and not blinking!

Night Sight – Great for indoor or outdoor shots, you can shoot without the flash and still get rich detail.

Portrait Mode -Portrait mode is even better due to the second camera lens, allowing for backgrounds to blur artfully.

HDR+ Live – Allows you to make adjustments on the camera controls to see what your picture will look like BEFORE you shoot.

Dual exposure controls – Gives you the ability to control highlights and shadows, allowing to lighten or darken certain areas of the photo.  Using HDR+ Live, this can be done before the shot is taken.

Face Unlock – Begins working as soon as you pick up your phone, no matter how you pick it up.  Works for payments and app authentication as well.  The fastest facial recognition on the market.

Free Unlimited Photo Storage – All your photos are uploaded securely to Google Photos in the cloud, in high quality with no storage limit!  We love Google Photos, see why.

Motion Sense – Uses Google’s proprietary Soli technology to sense movement over the phone.  Use your hand to skip songs, change volume, navigate through your music, silence phone calls, and snoozing your alarm.

Transcription Services –  We love this one!  Don’t want to miss anything from a seminar, teacher, or meeting?  Now you can record and transcribe speech automatically.  Google categorizes different types of audio like applause, music, etc.

But the real beauty comes in its search function.  You can search for “algorithm” and every time that word was spoken and translated, you can find precisely that spot in the seminar or class.

What’s even more remarkable, is that all transcription is done on your phone, not in some faraway cloud…which means you do not need to be connected to the Internet for transcription and search.  This is a feature is not found on other transcription services apps.  Can you imagine having this during your college lectures????  Now your kids can!

Car Crash Emergency Calls – Another great family feature.  If your Google Pixel Phone (or your son or daughter’s) detects you are in a car crash, it can automatically call 911 for you.  A great safety feature.

Offline Google Assistant – Yay! Now you can get help from Google Assistant while not connected to the Internet and it’s supposed to be 10 times faster than the old Google Assistant.  This is really helpful when you are driving.  Google Assistant will also have simpler integration with popular apps so you can control more with your voice.  We are big fans of Google Assistant too.

Live View in Google Maps – We loved this beta feature on the Pixel 3a.  Using AR (Augmented Reality) Google shows you arrows pointing the way to go as you look at the streets through your phone.  Great for walking to unknown places, Live View will help you make the right steps.

As you can see, Google excels in how it uses its proprietary software to enhance the phone’s features.

Using their native technologies like Soli, Google Assistant, Google Photos, Google Maps, and camera software, Google makes an outstanding high-end phone with unique capabilities.

The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are available later this month for $799 and $899 respectively.  Pre-order is available now.
