Piper

My daughter and I groomed our Maltipoo pup, Piper.  We have two Malitpoo’s.  One has more curly hair and the other, Piper, has straighter hair.

She is wonderful and our pups adore her.  The problem?  Everyone knows about her and it often takes months to get an appointment.

In the meantime, our pups’ fur gets quite matted.  I have tried buying razors through the years, but none of them work well.

Grooming Experience

My daughter and I placed Piper on a towel on a table and began work on her matted fur.  To keep her distracted, we gave her one of her favorite bones.

We weren’t sure which clipping guard comb to use with the electric clippers, so we 24mm clipper comb and ended up with the 12mm clipper comb.  We wanted a shorter cut.

Moving between the different sizes was very easy.

Much to our delight, Piper took to the grooming very well.  There were times when she didn’t like us focusing on a certain area, like her paws or chin area, but we just groomed her in other areas and circled back.

Her fur was vacuumed up as soon as it was cut.  No fur flying around, and anytime we cut out some knots, we just vacuumed it right up. There was quite a bit of fur in the 2-liter vacuum container afterward.

A Mom’s Perspective

To be honest, I was a bit nervous.  Would Piper let us groom her?  How would she look after the grooming?  Would we nick her?

Fortunately, everything turned out fine.  No more knots, matting, or crusty eyes.
