Getting Ready for the Oscars with VUDU

Oscars & VUDU Main
The Oscars are coming…this Sunday, February 22nd!  Did you have a chance to see all the nominated movies and actors from last year’s top movies?  As a Netflix streaming subscriber, I can tell you that none of them are available there.  We were lucky enough one day to get How to Train a Dragon 2 from Redbox, but most Oscar nominee movies are hard to come by, as people have reserved them from Redbox ahead of time online.

Not sure which movies have been nominated?  See the Oscars website to get up to speed.  Some of the most talked about nominated movies include American Sniper, Birdman, Whiplash, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and more…

Oscar Nominations 2015

Among animated movies are my animated favorites – Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon 2, and others like  BoxTrolls and The Lego Movie for kids.

So if Redbox and Netflix streaming arent’ the answer, where can you most easily find most of the nominated movies?  VUDU.  Have you heard of VUDU before?  VUDU is a streaming video-on-demand service that allows you to rent or buy the latest (and not so latest) movies to view on your PC or Mac, Android or iPhone, smart TV or Internet-connected DVD/Blu-Ray player, Roku player, Xbox 360 or One, PlayStation 3 or 4, and really, plenty of other devices!  VUDU is even on my Tivo!

In addition to buying or renting movies, you can actually digitize your present DVD/Blue-Ray collection so you can stream them from your VUDU account.  It’s easy and cost less than $5 a DVD.  See our article How to Digitize your DVD Library to learn how.

See VUDU’s Academy Awards Nominated Pictures page to easily see which films and actors have been nominated.  Click on any movie or actor and directly go to that movie to learn more, rent, or buy.  The movie Boyhood intrigued me, as the little  boy reminded me of my son.  Boyhood was filmed over 12 years with the same actors as a boy aged from 6 to 18 and tells of the trials and triumphs of growing up.  I was able to learn more about the movie, watch a brief preview, as well as see high ratings from the RottenTomatoes community.  And I can rent it today for $5.99 or even own it for just $9.99.  Unfortunately, it’s a R-rated movie, I was hoping it would be a good one to see with my son.

 Oscars
One of my favorite all-time movies that is nominated for an Oscar is Disney’s Big Hero 6.  I purchased it from VUDU for $19.99, so now I can access it from any phone, tablet, PC, Tivo, or our Smart TV’s.

Oscars
The process of buying a movie is simple and Big Hero 6 is now placed in My VUDU collection.  Now my kids can watch it over and over again…whether at home, their grandparents’ house, or while on vacation!  I love being able to access some of our favorite movies right from the TV.  No more needing to get up to put a DVD in!

Big Hero 6 is one of my favorites because it focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in a cool, inspiring way.  It reminds kids to use their imagination and creativity to solve problems.  It also tells kids that they don’t have to wait to they grow up to do something big in their lives and in the lives of others.

The Oscars airs on February 22nd.  You still have time to catch a movie to two so you’re better informed on who is being nominated for what!  Enjoy!
