You Coffee is Increasing Your Dehydration

OZMOJAVA+

Ozmo has created a smart water bottle to track how much water, coffee, and other drinks we are ingesting each day.

Dehydration Is A Problem

Most of us do not drink enough water.  Our bodies are made up of over 60% water.  When dehydration occurs, our bodies can’t function properly and our organs suffer.  So how much water do we need?

There are many factors that contribute to this, and it isn’t the same for everyone.  Factors include where you live, how active you are, how much you sweat, and your overall health.  However, the general rule of thumb is that males need about 13 cups and females need about 9 cups of water per day.  If you’re not doing this, dehydration is taking place.

Now keep in mind, when you drink soda and coffee, you need to drink even more water, as caffeine causes dehydration.

Ozmo created a cup, called the OzmoJava+cup that helps you keep track of your water (hydration) and coffee (dehydration).

How Does it Work?

The OzmoJava+ cup connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth (the Ozmo app is available on both Android and Apple devices).  When you first start up the app, it will ask you questions about your goals, and weight. OZMO4

The Ozmo app will then suggest how much water you should consume each day, but you can adjust it to a higher or lower amount.   It is a pretty solid mug that holds 16 oz of water or coffee.

As you refill the cup drink throughout the day, simply choose if you are drinking water or coffee and the cup automatically syncs with your app.

Additionally, the Java+ comes with a charging plate that also acts as a coffee warmer.  Yes, you read that correctly, the OzmoJava+ can actually keep your coffee warm.  No more leaving your cup in the microwave and finding it cold hours later! What a great feature!

The Ozmo can even sync with your Fitbit or Apple Health (please note that I do note have either of these, so I wasn’t able to test out these functionalities).

Do I Really Need to Track my Water Intake?

That question really depends on you!  I seem to go through spurts where I drink nothing but water, and then other times where I get dehydration headaches from not drinking enough water.

If you have a hard time keeping hydrated then this is a great tool to have!  There are so many advantages to drinking plenty of water!  Water helps us lose weight, flush out toxins, increases energy, and prevents muscle cramping.

A Mom’s Perspective

The OzmoJava+ definitely made me more aware of how much caffeine vs water I was consuming.  I didn’t always have the cup clean, so I would have to manually add my water that I drank outside of the cup.

The OzmoJava+ is a great concept.  However, it is a little pricey to spend on tracking your fluids.  If you struggle with dehydration or have some extra cash to spend, this is a great tool to help you in your nutritional goals.
