Electronic locks for your doors offer convenience nearly as good as your keyless entry for your car. Today’s electronic locks still have keypads on them for you to enter the code. But that is changing. Kwikset, the market leader in the US lock industry, wants to make locks even more convenient.
I had the opportunity to interview Keith Brandon, Director of Residential Access Solutions for Kwikset last month. We discussed where electronic locks and connected electronic locks (connected to home automation systems) have been and where they are going. Of particular interest is Kwikset’s new upcoming lock called the Kevo. Kevo is the size of a normal deadbolt lock and can open up by a simple touch. The touch authenticates via Bluetooth with your Kevo phone app to open the door.
