Grads and Dads Gift Guide

It’s nearly June!  It’s Grads and Dads Gift time! High school and college graduations are already taking place across the country.  Father’s day is just around the bend.

Are you looking for graduation or Father’s Day gifts your grad or dad can really use? Something lasting?

Here are 5 Grads and Dads gifts that they would love to receive and every one of them is useful and innovative.

5 Grads and Dads Gifts They’ll Love

1.  Lenovo Smart Clock

Grads and Dads will love this! The brand new Lenovo Smart Clock was voted as the Best Connected Home Product of CES in January.  At first glance, it looks rather simple, but it combines the needs of a bedside alarm clock with Google Assistant’s handiness.

Grads and dads will wake up happier with its gentle wake-up mode.  The clock face gets brighter gradually about a half hour before the alarm is to go off.

Once it goes off, s/he can hit the clock anywhere to snooze it or hit it twice to turn it off.

The Lenovo Smart Clock can be set verbally and Google Assistant will even make recommendations on setting an alarm due to your grad’s or dad’s schedule the next morning.

Better yet, by setting up a “morning” routine, your grad or dad can have Google Assistant show reminders, the schedule for the day, the morning commute time, the weather report, and a number of other things.

Or simply ask Google Assistant any of these things by voice and she will display the information on the Lenovo Smart Clock face.

And speaking of using voice, your grad or dad can ask the Lenovo Smart Clock Google Assistant anything s/he might ask of a Google Home or Lenovo Smart Display with Google Assistant, (a bigger more advanced Smart Assistant, perfect for the office or kitchen).

Google Assistant can answer questions, play different types of music, give stock prices, turn off lights (if hooked up with the Google Home app), and even show live footage from a Nest camera.

Its compact size is perfect for the bedroom nightstand.  It features a full-range 6W speaker, and microphone that can listen across a room, and has no camera for the ultimate privacy.  Its microphone can even be turned off when not needed.

The Lenovo Smart Clock was designed to minimize distractions from one’s smartphone while giving people access to Google Assistant.  But even for those diehard phone users, Lenovo placed a USB port in the back to charge phones if needed.

The Lenovo Smart Clock is available for presale at Walmart for $79.99 with free shipping.

2.  LumiCharge II Desk Lamp

Another helpful tool for Grads and Dads! The LumiCharge II LED Desk Lamp is a slim, modern looking lamp packed with a lot of features.

Not only is it a lamp, but a charger for multiple devices.  Your grad or dad can charge her/his phone, Bluetooth speaker, and Apple watch all at once!

Built with Qi wireless charging, simply lay a Qi-enabled phone right on the top of its surface.  Or use the LumiCharge II LED Desk Lamp’s spinning universal charging carousel to plug in iPhone, Android, Samsung, Google Pixel, or any other Micro USB phone or Type-C phones.

The light is unique in its own self.  First, you can close it completely down to get it out of the way or swivel it right and left 300 degrees.  The LumiCharge II lamp is extremely flexible.

In fact, you can also adjust the color and brightness of the light itself with 3 different hues and 10 levels of brightness.  Prefer a strong white light for reading, you can set it.  Or set it for a warm glow using a yellow bulb color.

There is also a motion sensor on the light to automatically turn on when it senses movement in the night.

The LumiCharge II LED Lamp is available in black, white, and silver and is the perfect “smart” lamp to declutter a desk or nightstand.  We use this lamp every day and LOVE it!  So will Grads and Dads.

We’ve arranged for a special deal with LumiCharge, called a Special Perk.  Use any of these following three links to gain extra savings:

Purchase one LumiCharge II for $90, a twin pack for $179, and a triple pack for $250  through their campaign.

3.  Razor E Prime Electric Scooter

Suitable for Grads and Dads, the Razor E Prime Electric Scooter is great for zipping across urban streets, the neighborhood, or across campus.  With speeds up to 15 mph, your grad or dad is going to zip along at a fast clip.

The Razor E Prime Electric Scoot features two brakes, one that is rear-fender initiated and the other is thumb-activated on the steering rod.

It’s made of durable aluminum and can be folded up and carried, weighing in at 21 lbs.  The Razor E Prime  scooter can be taken in the car, on the train, or into work.

It comes with adjustable handlebars so someone six feet tall could easily ride it as well.

The E Prime Electric Scooter makes it fun and fast to zip around in the city or at home and because it folds up easily, it can be taken in the car or on a train.

Scooters’ popularity is growing in urban areas.  They are easy to learn how to drive and Razor’s scooters can get up to fast speed quickly.

Both grads and dads would love having some extra zip in their “steps.”

The Razor E Prime Electric Scooter sells for $369.99 with free shipping from Amazon.

4.  Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam

Ensure your Grads and Dads are seen in the best light with the Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam for video conferencing, streaming, and recording.

People are using Zoom, Skype, Facetime, Hangouts, and others to minimize a commute or travel.

But if your Grad or Dad is still using a subpar camera or the one built into their laptop, chances are they are not “putting their best foot forward.”

The BRIO Ultra HD Webcam shoots in spectacular video, with quality up to 4K and an option to choose from a view of 65 degrees or a head shot up to 90 degrees diagonal for a large conference room.

The BRIO works with Windows 10, XSplit Broadcaster, OBS, and SwiftCapture to record in resolutions up to 4K and provides smooth, fluid video with 5X HD Zoom.

We love the BRIO’s mounting options, how it works with an LCD screen, notebook, or even tabletop.  Your grad or dad can even mount BRIO on their own tripod and use the built-in shade flip for privacy when not in use.

In our testing, the BRIO Ultra HD Webcam brings a crystal clear image with nice natural-looking lighting.  The video is smooth, not at all choppy.  The microphone picks up words clearly.

The Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam is available through Amazon for $160 with free shipping.

5.  SmartThings WiFi & Smart Home Hub

If your home is like most homes, you have great WiFi coverage close to where your router is, but the rest of the house suffers.  SmartThings has Dad and your Grad (if they are living with you) covered with their SmartThings WiFi 3-pack.

The SmartThings WiFi 3-pack allows you to extend WiFi throughout your home in the places where it is needed most, like the office, bonus room, kitchen, even the garage for Dad!

Set up is easy.  Download the SmartThings app and add the hub after connecting it to your main router, most likely installed by your cable provider.

After connecting to it, you can plug in the other two SmartThings WiFi extenders throughout your home (up to 4,500 sq. ft) to carry the WiFi signal.

But the SmartThings WiFi 3-pack does much more than just carry the WiFi signal.

It also doubles as a smart home hub. It can connect to 100’s of compatible sensors, devices, and accessories like Nest cameras, Wemo devices, motion sensors, thermostats, lights, and a lot more.

The WiFi delivered is fast and it learns your environment through AI (Artifical Intelligence) to provide the best performance, avoiding clogs when many devices are used at once.

In fact, with the added security and monitoring features of Plume (sealed within the hub), Dad will be able to assess who is using the WiFi access the most.  He can also see how much family members are uploading or downloading to better assess where WiFi consumption is going.

He can even block and unblock certain devices from the Internet at times he sees fit.

Grads will appreciate the increased speed and ability to finally use the Internet in their rooms, where the signal was once weak.

The Samsung SmartThings Wifi 3-pack is currently available for $30 off from Samsung SmartThings website for $249.99 with free shipping.

Celebrate!

May and June is an exciting time for families…and for Grads and Dads!

For your graduates, it’s a milestone and one you both will long remember.  It’s a pivotal point in your child’s lives.

For Dad’s, it’s a reminder of the responsibility they have to raise resilient kids.  Dads can do so much in encouraging their kids’ passions and direct their paths as they continue to grow.
